The Bible is Illegal at the Democratic Convention

Monday, August 25th, 2008

Dear Friends,

Please pray for those attending the Democratic Convention this week.

On May 29, 2008, Colorado’s Democratic Governor Bill Ritter signed into law Senate Bill 200, which makes it illegal to say anything derogatory about homosexuals. Senate Bill 200 expands Colorado’s “anti-discrimination” law to cover sexual orientation, not only homosexuality and bisexuality, but also an undefined condition called “transgender” which appears to occur only as a perception of the individual so affected. The result is that a transgender man is now legally allowed into women’s bathrooms and locker rooms.

To speak ill of anyone’s sexual orientation is a violations of this law and is punishable by a fine up to three hundred dollars and imprisonment for not more than one year.

The Bible speaks clearly and definitively against homosexuality in several passages as it does in Romans 1:26-27. There is a problem here, then, with anyone traveling to Denver this week to the Democratic Convention. These Bible verses are “hate speech” and therefore against the law. And you may not want to share a bathroom with a person of the opposite sex.

Just to make sure, we checked the 2008 Democratic Platform. The convention states, “Democrats will fight to end discrimination based on race, sex, ethnicity, national origin, language, religion, sexual orientation, gender identity, age, and disability in every corner of our country, because that’s the America we believe in.” [Democratic Platform Page 52]

Apparently freedom of religion includes everything but Christians and freedom of speech does not include our Bible.

God bless you for your prayers.

Homosexual Marriage - New Mexico Next?

Saturday, August 23rd, 2008

As hard as Governor Richardson has tried this year to pass homosexual legislation, three of New Mexico’s legislators were instrumental stopping its passage in the state of New Mexico: Senator Lidio G. Rainaldi, Representative Gloria Vaughn and Representative Nora Espinoza.

Senator Rainaldi (Cibola & McKinley Counties), grilled the homosexual lobbyist and stopped “Domestic Partners” legislation in a Senate committee. Unfortunately, the good senator is retiring and will not return to Santa Fe next session.

Representative Espinoza (Dona Ana County) let everyone know that the proposed “Domestic Partners” legislation was in fact disguised homosexual marriage and proposed legislation making marriage between one man and one woman.

Representative Gloria Vaughn (Otero County) proposed constitutional amendment to that effect. Both the amendment and the legislation died in committee with only the sponsors voting for it.

Fast forward to today: A group call Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now, ACORN, has registered 10,000 voters in Gloria Espinoza’s county, Dona Ana County and another 55,000 have been registered in Bernalillo County.

ACORN purports to be a grass roots organization but is in fact funded by a Drummond Pike, founder and chief executive of the Tides Foundation in Mill Valley, California. The organization is wealthy enough that ACORN’s president’s brother embezzled $1 million from the organization. County officials through out the country have found up to 40% of the organization’s registrations are fraudulent and, so far, 7 lawsuits have been filed against them.

Meanwhile other key conservatives, leading members of the New Mexico State Legislature, have been targeted by outside organizations such as the homosexual group “Equality New Mexico” funded by Tim Gill from Denver, Colorado.

These organizations are on the fast track to change New Mexican culture. They have successfully demonized Senator Shannon Robinson from Albuquerque, a conservative Democrat, who lost a primary bid after 19 years in the Senate.

If the success of these organizations continues, and, given their financial resources, manpower and dedication, there is no reason to believe they can be stopped.

Come January, New Mexico’s legislature will be the next state voting in Homosexual Marriage.

New Mexico’s Voter Registration 2008: Will It Make A Difference?

Tuesday, August 19th, 2008

Presidential candidates are visiting New Mexico. Former contender Hilary Clinton was in the state yesterday. Our Governor will be one of the opening speakers at the Democratic Convention next week.

What’s going on here?

Very simply, New Mexico’s vote counts. New Mexico is a swing state. Our small state will play a key role in the upcoming national election.

Evangelical Pastor Rick Warren, in interviewing both candidates on Saturday, revealed very clearly the Christian substance of each presidential candidate. For example, when asked when life began, Senator John McCain immediately said at conception. Senator Barrack Obama said the question was “above my pay-grade.”

Within New Mexico, hundreds of thousands of dollars are being poured into the state to make sure the next legislature will pass Domestic Partnership legislation.

The outcome will depend on who is voting. And who is voting will depend on who is registered to vote.

New Mexico’s voter registration deadline is October 7, 2008.

New Mexico Voter Registration will make a difference if:

  • God’s people pray
  • God’s people register to vote
  • God’s people vote

May God bless you today.

Welcome to the New Mexico Watchman: Serving the Christian Community with Information and a Call to Prayer

Friday, August 15th, 2008

For the last three years, it has been the privilege of the a small group of New Mexico citizens to become aware of the New Mexico legislative process and how it impacts those with firmly held Christian beliefs and values.

In past years, two past web sites and an email effort have been used to inform the Christian community of this information. They were 2007nmlegislature.com and 2008nmlegislature.com.

The New Mexico Watchman is a continuation of these efforts; that is - to make the New Mexico state legislature as transparent as possible to the Christian community. NMWatchman.com hopes to continue the effort with continuous updates and analysis on legislative activity to include proposed legislation, committee hearings and voting.

This endeavor is in vital need your prayer support. Will you please pray for the New Mexico Legislature as a body and those legislators who representing you there. Secondly, will you please pray for the New Mexico Watchman, that it may be an instrument of the Lord’s mercy.

A financial effort will be made at a later time when the legal status of this effort has been examined and implemented.

Thank you for visiting New Mexico Watchman.

May you be blessed by our Lord Jesus today.

In His name,

Jose Vasquez
