Senate to Vote Hate Crime Bill
Same sex marriage is just the tip of the iceberg of what the homosexual agenda has in store for this country. The Senate is facing a vote on legislation entitled “Local Law Enforcement Hate Crimes Prevention Act of 2009 (H.R. 1913).” The result will be that preaching, teaching and publishing anything against homosexuality, pedophilia, cross-dressing etc., will become a federal crime.
Hate crimes are defined as, “prejudice based on the actual or perceived race, color, religion, national origin, gender, sexual orientation, gender identity, or disability of the victim.”
House Republicans attempted to have the sponsors of the bill define “sexual orientation.” When that failed they attempted to have pedophiles and the like excluded from hate crime protection. They refused. The legislation passed the House 249 to 175. New Mexico Representatives Ben Ray Lujan and Martin Heinrich voted for the legislation. Representative Harry Teague did not vote.
The bill can be described as a “thought control” bill making our law enforcement personnel “thought police.” Following the reading of the Miranda Rights the police may have to ask, “What were you thinking and did it have anything to do with sex?”
Then there is the matter of enforcement. Whose “actual or perceived” thoughts will be condemned? Following the passage of Proposition 8 in California, churches, especially Mormon churches, were damaged, desecrated and invaded while church members were physically assaulted. Church pastors were threatened and a white powder substance was sent to churches as intimidation. Because donors were listed in public documents, Proposition 8 donors were intimidated and some were forced to leave their employment.
No arrests were made.
Finally, the bill makes teaching and preaching parts of the Bible illegal. Homosexuality is condemned in the Bible. By the definition of this legislation, Romans 1 is hate speech. That fact is not lost on the proponents of this legislation. A pastor in Sweden was arrested and jailed on this basis of this type of legislation.
As the bill now goes to the Senate will you please pray for and urge Senators Bingaman and Udall to vote against this legislation. Contact information follows.
God bless you and God bless our country.
