The Response: A Parallel event in Santa Fe August 6, 2011

Jose Vasquez August 15th, 2011

August 6, 2011, will be a day remembered, as a prominent public
official called the nation to fast and pray.
It will be the day our nation looked into the Book of Joel and lamented,
the day the nation pleaded for atonement and the day the nation was called to arms.

It was the day of Texas Governor Rick Perry’s call for “The Response: A Call to
Prayer for a Nation in Crisis.” More than 30,000 Americans came
together in Reliant Stadium in Houston for “The Response.”

Governor Perry’s call was heard in New Mexico. From all around the
northern part of the state, our people heard and gathered on the steps
of the Round House, our State Capitol. Our state’s Prayer Coordinator, Pauline Terry,
organized the event, and Pastor Jack
Webb from Destiny Church in Albuquerque provided the leadership. The
shofar was blown and Ms Linda Cobb from KCHF Channel 11 pronounced our
state’s alliance with and prayer for the state of Israel.

Governor Perry’s proclamation was read and Pastor Webb led us in prayer.
We then gathered in smaller groups for our individual prayers. All
kinds of people prayed, from 7 years old to 75 years old. We gathered
again as one body, and our petitions were spoken again for all to hear.
Healing prayers and anointing for a dying sister were part of the
assembly.

(It was noted that a serpent sculpture called “Sun and Moon” that could
represent false gods decorates the entrance to our Capital. The
sculpture was declared powerless in the name of Jesus.)

“God Bless American” was our final, heartfelt anthem. The name of Jesus
was lifted up in New Mexico on the same day as the event in Houston.
Santa Fe will remember the day we also responded and called on the Lord.
