Our American Christian Tradition or an American Muslim Tradition?

Friday, September 4th, 2009

The National Day of Prayer, a Christian event, began with the Eisenhower administration in 1952. Every president since Eisenhower has proclaimed a National Day of Prayer.

This year the prayer day was honored everywhere, all across America on May 7, 2009. Everywhere that is except - in the Obama White House. Breaking with tradition, heads were not bowed in Christian prayer on that day in our nation’s Capitol.

This evening (September 2), however, a feast following a day of fasting as required by Muslim Sharia law during the holy month of Ramadan was held in the White House. Ramadan will be observed almost nowhere* in America - except in the Obama White House.

President Obama, who has declared himself a Christian, writes in his autobiography titled “Audacity of Hope”:

They (Arab and Pakistani Americans following 9/11) have been reminded that the history of immigration in this country has a dark underbelly; they need specific reassurances that their citizenship really means something, that America has learned the right lessons from the Japanese internments during World War II, and that I will stand with them should the political winds shift in an ugly direction.”

Indeed tonight he is standing with them.

God bless America. God bless President Obama.

*Estimates of the number of Muslims living in the US vary considerably but are probably between 0.5% to 2% of the population. Christians are now estimated to be at 76%.

Your Participation Legal

Tuesday, April 7th, 2009

Dear Friends,

Please keep our political process in prayer.

The headline in last Sunday’s Santa Fe New Mexican (April 5, 2009) read “Illegal interference sank partnership bill.” The Letters-to-the-Editor headline was a total fabrication. The “My View” article that followed mentioned neither domestic partnerships nor any illegality. The author of the article was careful to address how Christians should live, then berated those involved in the legislative process. The following are quotes from the article: “religious zealots,” “unprogressive and provocative attacks,” “blind adherence,” “blind and void of compassion,” “hypocritical, unkind, self-serving and perverse,” and “manifested in unconscionable and venomous discriminatory dictatorial agenda.”

No place in the article was there reference to the process being “illegal” or “interfered.” The fact is any individual, group or institution can and should participate in the legislative process, especially legislation that addresses the moral fiber and conscience of society.

On the same page an article by Bishop Sheehan came under the headline “Catholic Advocacy is not a Church-State issues.” The Bishop is right. It is not illegal. It is a right.

The above quoted material would probably be defended as a “freedom of speech” issue. Unless written by a Christian. Then it’s hate speech.

Dear Friends,

We have just heard that SB 12 Domestic Partnerships will not be heard by the Senate today, Monday.

Anticipating legislation is a little like waiting to be asked to the high school dance. You know the captain of the football team, in this case, Bill Richardson and the head cheerleader, Diane Denish, are going and have all the details. The rest of us ‘gotta wait.

We have received word the ACLU and Equality New Mexico have turned the focus away from Same Sex Marriage to helping old folks. My mother, a life long church goer at 93 year old senior, was called and told to call her senator in support of SB 12 Domestic Partnerships.

We are faced with a deceptive and manipulative force that can be turned away through prayer and our efforts.

Please join us at the State Capitol today as we address SB 12 Domestic Partnerships.

SB 12 Domestic Partners Right and Responsibilities: Sponsor: Sen. Cisco McSorley
· What the bill does:
Gives all the legal benefits of marriage (including custody of children, pension and inheritance benefits – changing over 700 marriage NM laws) to any two people who apply. Applies to both opposite-sex and same-sex couples. Partnership would be ended only by divorce. This legislation has always led to gay marriage.

· Where is it now:
Bill may be heard today in the Senate.

Church Day in Santa Fe

Monday, November 24th, 2008

The upcoming New Mexico Legislature will seriously move our community away from Christian principles and strengthen the rights of those opposing the Christian church.

We would like to invite Bible believing churches to Santa Fe to participate in the legislative process. Church Day in Santa Fe will be a program of coordinating church visits to Santa Fe, to meet with legislators, view the legislative process, and offer testimony in critical committees.

Former Congressman Bill Redmond
will be coordinating the effort. For your church to participate please contact Mr. Redmond at (505) 670-4526.

A listing of churches and their visitation dates will be posted at this site shortly.

Please pray and encourage your church to participate. God bless you.
